At Palmetto Retina Center, Drs. Lloyd Clark and Jack Wells offer the most comprehensive and state of the art care in the treatment of vitreous and retinal diseases in South Carolina. Our practice is limited to patients with retinal diseases and our efforts are concentrated on providing our patients with the best quality care in a compassionate, caring environment.
Your visit to Palmetto Retina Center will involve a thorough retinal examination by our doctors followed by diagnostic imaging of the retina to determine the best course of treatment.
Advanced Technology
Retinal photography and fluorescein angiography is performed using either the Topcon Imagenet system or Heidelberg Retinal Angiograph 2. The latter allows specialized autofluorescence imaging and high speed indocyanine green angiography in patients with age-related macular degeneration. No other practice in South Carolina has this capability, which allows treatment in many patients with the wet form of macular degeneration that is not possible using conventional forms of retinal imaging such as fluorescein angiography. We also use the latest optical coherence tomography imaging to diagnose and manage macular edema from diabetes and other disorders.
Clinical Trials
Our practice is also dedicated to the advancement of new treatments for retinal diseases. We are involved in multiple clinical trials of the newest therapies for age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusions. Please refer to our clinical trials page for more information.
Specific Conditions
We offer the best surgical care for treatment of retinal detachment, proliferative diabetic retinopathy complicated by traction retinal detachment and vitreous hemorrhage.
